PORTRAITURE CHOSEN TO WRITE SCORE FOR NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAY “rise/fall”

We are thrilled to announce that Portraiture is composing a score to a new play called “rise/fall.” It’s an experimental theater piece by playwright Sheila Bandyopadhyay. This weekend – both Friday and Saturday – we will present a 10-minute excerpt of “rise/fall” at The Tank! It’s been really difficult to stay quiet about all this, but we are most excited about how this opportunity has allowed Portraiture to flex its experimental muscles. Since it is a play and not a musical, some of the music is used for movement and choreography (Jay Dunn is our visionary movement specialist and choreographer), some of it is used for underscoring, and some of the music is actual songs sung by the lead character.
Since The Tank is a small space, only James Pingenot and Nathan Siler will be playing as representatives of the band, but we cannot wait to use the full band! Until then, watch this, and get your tickets now!
